In Maamu Tension Nai Leneka, Shruti Hassan is a simple girl from a small town in Kerala. She has been studying hard to get into an engineering college in Delhi, but her father Biginti Ramachandran refused to let her go because of the huge risk involved in the move. When she gets a scholarship from a friend of her father, she decides that it will be a good opportunity for both of them and departs for Delhi, leaving behind her best friend Arshi who is also going to the same college. Arshi has an interest in astrology, and she reads Shruti's horoscope. She is shocked to read that Shruti is already married, but she realises that it might be a fake one made for a visa purpose. When Shruti goes to Delhi, she meets a young man named Karthik Raj Muthuraman, who lectures at SRCC College and lives with his younger brother.
